Roy’s Second Theory of Television

Roy’s Second Theory of Television: Having grown up in the shadow of the baby boom, my first real exposure to The Beatles was through the reruns of their Saturday-morning cartoon series and the persistent rumours of them getting together again. Mark David Chapman, of course, put an end to that speculation in 1980, but one has to wonder, had Yoko insisted on staying home that fateful night, if another animated television’s show obvious affection for the Fab Four — most notably episodes 7F18, 9F21, and 3F03 — might not have culminated in that long awaited reunion with Lennon. I can only imagine one television show in the last ten years or so with that sort of cultural clout; let’s hope there’s still time to work some of the Simpsons magic on ABBA.
